UPCOMING FEMALES

GRANGE HANNAH

  • Grange Hannah’s pedigree includes some of the very best stock bulls which have been purchased from Lanaud Station, namely Dolmen, Perit-B, Marquis and Gabarit. These sires have all combined their different attributes of growth and muscularity, coupled with maternal qualities, to produce a very feminine animal, with stretch, length and depth of body.
  • In terms of females included in her pedigree, again there are top class females, including Grange Juniata who was the champion pedigree heifer at Smithfield in 1996. Her grandmother, Grange Tarashani, is the mother of Grange Cascade, one of the most consistent breeders within the herd, and the mother of the only two British Bred Limousins to have been sold to France.
  • Hannah has excellent breed characteristics and maternal qualities and has proven to be easy calving with all of the sires that she has run with, producing offspring which run true to the bloodline.

GRANGE HONNEUSE

  • Dorade, Grange Honneuse’s mother, was purchased as a yearling heifer at Interlim’s Grand Cru auction sale held in Nantes in September 2009, and was bred by the renowned EARL Domaine Saint-Elevert. Dorade combined four outstanding bloodlines found within the French Herd Book, including Paladin (RRE) who had one of the highest indices for milking abilities and maternal characteristics in France.
  • Honneuse combines her mother’s length and power with the growth and stretch of Dolmen progeny. She is a prolific milker and has an excellent pelvis, demonstrated by her easy calving ability.
  • Her daughter, Grange Nuance, has been retained within the herd and has been running with our latest stock to have been purchased at Lanaud Station, Norton.
  • In 2018, she produced a bull calf sired by Flamant; this son, Grange Oman, has inherited the growth of his sire, and yet has retained the muscling of his mother, shown by his 365 day weight of 712kgs. Grange Oman is currently showing great promise as a young bull and we have great hopes for his future.

GRANGE INTRINSIC

  • Grange Intrinsic has great length and depth, excellent top line and is a very milky cow. She has a good pelvis and is a very easy calving cow, all attributes that she has inherited from her mother.
  • Sired by Dolmen, she has inherited the frame and skeletal development of her father, coupled with the increased muscularity of her mother, herself a daughter of the noted bull Serge which was another purchase from Lanaud Station. Serge sadly injured himself whilst being used and had to be killed; when in the abattoir, he had a dead weight carcase of 948kgs, demonstrating the size of his frame and his muscular development.
  • Her mother’s bloodline goes back to the excellent bull, Gabarit, who was the very first bull which we purchased from Lanaud Station in 1992, and was arguably one of the very best bulls to have been imported into the UK.

s. DOLMEN d. GRANGE BACINELLA (gs. SERGE)

GRANGE JOLIESSE

  • Grange Joliesse is a powerful female, with excellent conformation, coupled with growth, excellent pelvis and breed characteristics. This growth and stature is inherited from her sire, Flamant, who was a very stretchy bull and produced very tall progeny, reflecting his own pedigree.
  • Her mother, Ecaille, was purchased as an in-calf heifer in France, from the noted herd of GAEC de Champagnat – a breeder from who we have made multiple purchases, and who produces very correct animals.
  • Grange Noblesse, her first son (s. Indien) was sold to a local commercial breeder, who is looking for an easy calving bull, producing growthy progeny, with good milking abilities – all attributes found within this bloodline.
  • Her daughter, Grange Oseille has been retained within the herd, and is currently true to her bloodline – with the growth inherited from her maternal pedigree, coupled with the muscling of her father’s breeding.

s. FLAMANT d. ECAILLE (gs. NOTABLE)

GRANGE LECLAIR

  • One of the first Gaspacho daughters, Grange Leclair is a truly powerful female who has inherited the growth of her father’s bloodline, which includes the highly rated Coluche, one of the most popular bulls of his generation in France.
  • Her mother, Faculte, was imported from France as an in-calf heifer, from the highly regarded herd of EARL Rousseau, and demonstrated her ability to be easy calving, with an excellent pelvis and maternal characteristics. Her growth and frame can be traced back through her paternal bloodline, which includes the highly rated bulls Turbot and Plan, which in turn bred the ‘elevage’ type of animals, such as Bananier.
  • Grange Leclair has excellent breed characteristics, good thickness of bone, an excellent pelvis and is a traditional Limousin type – easy calving, with great length of body, depth and a very good top line.

s. GASPACHO d. FACULTE (gs. CAUTERETS)

LARA

  • Lara holds the accolade of being the first ever female sold in Lanaud Station, being the very first lot in the very first “Belles de de Lanaud” sale in April 2017.
  • Her pedigree contains a huge number of widely known and highly respected French sires, such as On-Dit RRE, Neuf RRE, Coluche RJ, Indecis RJ and Turbot RR to name but a few.  All of these bloodlines provide a mixture between the more muscular animals and the ‘elevage’ type of animal.
  • Lara has a high genomic score for milking ability, along with skeletal development; in terms of conformation, she has plenty of muscling, a very good top line, very wide pelvis and excellent breed characteristics. Her sire, Chatelain RR, has high French EBV’s for growth, muscle development and skeletal development – all traits which have been passed on to Lara.
  • Her first calf, Grange Pauline, has been sired by Mylord and is currently showing great promise, inheriting the traits of both her mother and her father.

s. CHATELAIN RR d. FANFARE (gs. COLUCHE)

LOLY

  • Loly was the second female purchased at the first “Belles de Lanaud” auction sale held at Lanaud Station in April 2017.
  • She has great length, excellent top line, a very wide pelvis, good thickness of bone and is very elegant and feminine. In addition to this conformation, she has the French EBV’s to back this up, and high genomic scores for ease of calving, calving ability, thickness of bone and milking ability.
  • Her sire, Gus RJ, was a well known sire in France, noted for his ability to produce excellent females, and was exported to Hungary in 2016. In addition, widely respected bulls such as Tastevin RRE, Epson RRE and Salomon RR can be found in her pedigree – all of which are noted for the ability to produce good females.
  • During her time in Lanaud Station, Loly recorded a daily weight gain of 1.2kgs per day – amongst the highest of any of her contemporaries in that test series.
  • Loly ran with Mylord in 2018, and her first calf is a female, Grange Parbelle, born in March 2019. Grange Parbelle is currently showing great growth and length and is living up to the promise of her pedigree.

Breeder: GAEC Aucomte Pere et Fils

GRANGE MICHELIA

  • A Gaspacho daughter, Grange Michelia has inherited her father’s conformation and stretch, and coupled with her mother’s increased thickness, this pairing has produced a typical Limousin type – easy calving, milky, with length, growth and good breed characteristics.
  • Grange Gentiana’s bloodline includes the noted Gabarit, as well as being related to the highly rated Grange Cascade. In the depths of her pedigree is Imbattable, one of the foundation cows of the Grange Herd, purchased back in 1976.
  • A first calving heifer in 2019, her daughter Grange Pendant is sired by Monty, and is one of his first crop of calves. This pairing brings together the Coluche bloodline with that of Star-MN – two very highly rated bulls within the French Limousin Herd Book.

s. GASPACHO d. GRANGE GENTIANA (gs. DOLMEN)

GRANGE NAVETTE

  • Grange Navette’s pedigree includes the famous Nervien on her mother’s side, as well as Coluche on her father’s side. This combination brings together maternal characteristics together with conformation and growth, as demonstrated by Navette.
  • Enoumie, bred by GAEC Vielle Abbaye in the Dordogne region of France, was purchased as an in-calf heifer. She has gone on to produce high calibre females, and all her bull calves have been sold on to commercial breeders, looking for easy calving, growthy bulls with muscling.
  • In addition to her conformation, Grange Navette has great breed characteristics, and is a very correct female, in the true Limousin style.

s. GASPACHO d. ENOUMIE (gs. NERVIEN)

GRANGE NOISELLE

  • Grange Noiselle’s grandmother, Cassie, was purchased at Interlim’s Grand Cru auction sale in September 2009 as a yearling heifer. She was bred by GAEC Le Lann, who was also the breeder of one of our former stock bulls, Serge.
  • In addition to Dolmen, Grange Noiselle’s pedigree includes Arlequin, who was responsible for producing a number of bulls which were granted entry into Lanaud Station, and also a number of animals which were highly successful on the French show circuit.
  • Grange Gabelle is a very feminine cow, with good thickness of bone and pelvis; by adding Gaspacho’s bloodline, this has resulted in a slightly thicker animal, whilst still retaining the length and frame of her mother’s pedigree. Grange Noiselle has the pedigree behind her, coupled with her conformation, to become great female of the future.

s. GASPACHO d. GRANGE GABELLE (gs. DOLMEN)

GRANGE NOUNOU

  • Badiane, Grange Nounou’s mother, was yet another purchase made at the highly selective Interlim Grand Cru sale, this time in 2008 at Brive-la-Gaillarde, as an in-calf heifer. Her conformation was backed up by exceptionally high French EBV’s for growth and her EBV for maternal qualities placed her in the top 10% in France.
  • These qualities have been passed on to her progeny, and Grange Nounou is no exception, with growth, thickness, excellent pelvis and top line and good thickness of bone, as well as breed characteristics.
